PlasticFreeJuly: Piggy Bank

Throughout July we will be publishing ideas on ways to upcycle plastics to help give them a second life. Today, a piggy bank from an old plastic bottle

Items/Materials Required;

1 x Medium sized Plastic Bottle


Stanley Knife

2 x Pink Coloured card

Selection of decorations (eyes/drink bottle plastic tops)

Super Glue

How to make;

  • Take off the existing wrapper from a plastic bottle.

  • Cut pink card to size, wrap-around bottle and glue.

  • Cut a slot in the card and top of the bottle with a Stanley knife.

  • Cut out 2 x ears from another section of pink card and glue to front of the bottle.

  • Use 4 x white drink bottle inserts as legs and glue to bottle.

  • Glue 2 x plastic eyes onto the front of the bottle (from Hobbycraft)

  • Keep the remaining bottle cap as the nose.
