We are delighted to announce the appointment of our first Apprentice, Barry Heath.

Barry joined us on 11th July and has been working with our maintenance teams and extra works teams.

We caught up with Barry and asked him why he chose an apprenticeship and how he though his new apprenticeship was working out. He commented………

“I left school with 12 GCSEs and decided to do an apprenticeship as you can earn money while your are learning on the job. I have a keen interest in gardening so when IPM Facilities were looking for apprentices it was a logical fit

I am being taught the technical and practical side of gardening, along with H&S and environmental awareness and also how to maintain our equipment and tools. Also working on mobile teams I am learning how to maximise my time and plan works.

By undertaking the apprenticeship scheme from a early age I hope to use my qualifications and practical skills as a platform to build a successful career in the landscape industry and progress my way up to management level.

Although it’s hard physical work, I am really enjoying my apprenticeship and I am really looking forward to progressing in the industry and IPM Facilities”.

Alice Hithersay, our Human Resources Manager, commented…..”We are delighted to have Barry on our apprenticeship scheme and want him to progress and grow with our business, we hope he is the first of many apprentices we will mentor within our business”.
