Watchmoor Business Park

Case Study

space-gallery-01.jpg

Watchmoor Park is a prestigious business park nestled amongst the green surroundings of Camberley with leafy landscaping and peaceful lake views. It has beautiful tree-lined outdoor spaces with tranquil ornamental lakes and an abundance of wildlife.

IPM has been maintaining the landscaping at the Park for over 10 years. The Park has undergone several Asset and Managing Agents changes, however, one thing not to have changed during that time is IPM Facilities managing the landscape! We now work very closely with the onsite facilities management team – MAPP!

The Park has numerous separate office buildings and IPM Facilities maintain all the landscaping around these buildings as well as the communal areas. With two large lakes at the entrance, this site boasts fantastic views throughout the seasons. Do not be surprised if you see a flock of baby ducklings or Canadian geese.

We have recently installed new wild meadow areas where Park users can sit amongst the wild flora and fauna of the Park. And all this is within a “stone’s throw” of Camberley town center.  In 2018 The Natural Surrey Heath team approached the park to enquire whether they would be willing to further encourage wildlife onsite by designating an area for a wildflower meadow. Both we and the on-site management team were very excited about this and it did not take very long to put our heads together and agree to install 1000m2 wildflower meadow by the lake. In April 2019, our team successfully carried out this task.

Due to the nature and location of the Park we are unable to locate a working depot area on site and consequently we use a mobile team to maintain the grounds. The team work on the Park every day, however they use our Farnham depot as their base. Here we house all the equipment and tools used on the Park and bring all waste and green waste back to be recycled.

During the winter IPM Facilities is also responsible for keeping all roads, paths, and steps, snow & ice-free. We use mobile winter service teams to carry out all these works and work closely with the Park Management and the MET Office to ensure we keep the Park safe.

Some of the projects we have worked on, in our time managing this site include:

•    Floating Duck House
•    Wildflower Meadow
•    Numerous planting and landscape upgrades
•    Arboricultural works
•    Annual tenant BBQ

Our client, has also announced that by 2050 the entire site will be carbon neutral, and we are committed to working with you in ensuring its success. This will include all plant and machinery becoming electric, installing multiple electric pod points on site, and reducing our carbon footprint through the activities we conduct onsite.

Our team consists of operatives who have been maintaining this site for over 10 years. And they are passionate about maintaining high standards. It is important to IPM that those working on our Client’s properties understand the needs and nuances, that is why we endeavor to keep a settled team, which results in a fantastic retention rate of staff over the years. We have lost count of the number of long service award ceremonies we have had for our loyal and brilliant staff members.

In addition to the landscaping works, we also carry out building maintenance at Watchmoor Park. We have also undertaken multiple civil works on site including a full installation of a new and well overdue footpath. After a number of on-site meetings with MAPP, we resolved an ongoing issue with access to the Park, IPM designed and installed a new footpath to give those who don't drive to the site, safe access.

The works had to be carefully planned and managed as it ran alongside the entrance road of the business park, which gets very busy.

With all safe systems of work in place including traffic management to keep the incoming vehicles away from the work area the project began. These works were completed on time and in budget.

Overall, this site offers a fantastic opportunity for IPM and its team to demonstrate the full range of skills and services we have to offer, and we are doubly proud of the fact that for over a decade, this is a site which we have managed without interruption.

For 2022 we will be providing two WBC Beehives along with the ongoing management program.
