IPM Facilities Ltd provide facilities, property and landscaping services to some of the UK’s largest businesses. We work with our customers to ensure their buildings, work spaces and grounds are cleaner, safer and more efficient. Due to continuing growth, we are looking for a dynamic and highly skilled HSE Manager to drive our H&S forward.

You will need to be a confident and capable H&S professional with excellent organisation, administration, and communication skills. A sound understanding of H&S law, the experience of policy design and implementation and the ability to provide advice and guidance on H&S related issues to a diverse range of stakeholders is essential. This is very much a hands-on role with strong commercial business acumen alongside generalist H&S skills and experience. It requires a responsive individual who can work collaboratively and at pace with other business functions. The post holder reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

H&S Responsibilities

  • Working with operations directors and managers to provide effective Health and Safety management to all parts of our business.

  • Updating records and organising any training that may be required to satisfy legislation and that will ensure our staff are working in a safe environment.

  • Understanding the requirements, in Health and Safety terms, across all the different areas of the business

  • To carry out safety inspections at all company sites as required

  • Liaise with the senior management on a regular basis to keep them informed of matters arising and provide guidance and advice on Health & Safety matters to managers and staff across the business.

  • Monitor and implement changes in Health and Safety law as appropriate.

  • Develop or update Health and Safety policies and procedures in line with changes in legislation to promote safe working practices - To advise/train managers and staff of changes.

  • Identify Health & Safety training requirements for staff with managers and organise requisite courses.

  • Develop and support and robust Health and Safety Management system in line with legislative requirements and work towards securing ISO45001.

  • Ensure a robust system of health and safety auditing so that risks are adequately controlled, and areas of concern are highlighted to the business, as well as promoting individual safety behaviour as a means of improving safety performance.

  • Meet Company Safety performance measures delivering year on year improvements.

  • Evaluate area performance, using a rolling programme and identify trends, improvements and needs on an ongoing basis.

  • Liaise with the Regulatory bodies as required for scheduled and unscheduled inspections or communications.

  • Coach and train line managers and employees in good safety practice and legislation and compliance.

  • Provide reporting information to the Company of Incidents / Near Misses occurring across the business.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing H&S.

  • NEBOSH Certificate in H&S.

  • Detailed knowledge of current H&S legislation

  • Experienced in H&S, including specialist knowledge of health and safety in facilities & construction related industries.

  • Highly organised with excellent administration skills and attention to detail

  • Confident communicator, with demonstrable knowledge on HS matters who can influence at a senior level whilst remaining approachable.

  • Strong aptitude for systems and processes, always seeking ways to improve and challenge.

  • Team player with the ability and confidence to work independently as well as build relationships with stakeholders.

  • Hands-on and prepared to go above and beyond to get the job done.
