decking at New Square, Bedfont

IPM Facilities have recently undertaken and finished a large decking area at New Square, Bedfont Lakes. Last year the new restaurant was completed at New Square and a small decked area was part of the original build. It was such a success that the client at Bedfont wanted to increase the outside seating area and turned to IPM for a design and installation programme.

The decking incorporates anti slip with grips inserted into decking at the point of manufacture. "This is an important Health and Safety feature that is not generally used by many other installation companies" said Mark Noakes from IPM. "The cost is slightly higher than decking without it, but all too often Facilities Managers are coming to us with requests to provide anti slip surfaces to existing decking at properties, that have become a Health & Safety issue due to it becoming slippery. The cost to make these old decking areas safe is far costlier than having the anti slip incorporated at installation."

The restaurant manager, Felicity Baker commented "the decking has given us a huge boost and provided a lovely area for people to sit outside with a drink or to eat their lunch. Now we just need some lovely warm weather!"

Sorry Felicity, IPM Facilities can arrange fantastic decking construction, but not unfortunately, the British weather!

July 2008

IPM Facilities are delighted to have secured the grounds maintenance contract at Green Park for buildings 100, 300, 350, 400 & 450. “We are delighted to have been awarded this contract, we already undertake the Planned Preventative Maintenance on these buildings so it makes sense for us to maintain the grounds too” said Gary Kirkham, Director.

“We now have the expertise with the arrival of Mark Noakes (former Operations Director with ISS Waterers Landscape) to be able to manage larger grounds maintenance contracts. We have worked with Jones Lang LaSalle now for many years here at Green Park and at other sites and look forward to carrying on that partnership for many years to come” he added.

IPM will be purchasing all new equipment for the start of the contract and will be looking to conserve resources and reduce waste. The introduction of mulching decks and the use of shredders will mean less green waste being removed from site. “We intend to work smarter and cleaner and our endeavours will not only benefit Green Park, but the local community and the environment”
